new things!
Monday, August 2nd, 2010new stuff! FTDT-002 and PTAM-004
Tuesday, May 25th, 2010Five Three Dial Tone Records is pleased to announce the addition of a new record to our catalog: Human Reunion’s Carbonics 7”. Human Reunion has already achieved legendary status in their hometown of Dayton, Ohio, because of their energetic and unpredictable live performances — and we’re honored to be the label chosen to bring their songs to your turntable, mp3 player or cassette deck. (”Carbonics” was recorded and mixed by Braniac / Enon’s John Schmersal.)
Yes, cassette deck. Five Three Dial Tone Records is also announcing a new line of audio treats: Prelude To A Miss. Prelude To A Miss will be a very limited run of cassette tapes containing demos, alternate takes, cover songs and whatever else we can dig up by Five Three Dial Tone artists. Yes we know cassettes aren’t the most ideal medium, what with all the rewinding and stuff, but we also know you’re just going to listen to the MP3s anyway. This is just a little something fun we came up with for fans and collectors and relatives, which is why we’ll only be doing very small runs of them (hint, hint) and why they’ll only cost a few dollars.
Prelude To A Miss Volume 1 will be Human Reunion. Ideally the tape number would precede the record number so that joke would work and you’d be all like “Oh, I get it. A Miss.” But we sort of botched the numbers on our first few releases. It’ll work better next time. Promise.
Ok. The new release info is out of the way, here’s your pre-release info:
As we always do, we’ve got 50 copies of our new release on white vinyl for the release shows (May 28th in Dayton, OH and May 29th in Detroit, MI). And just like we did last time, we’ll be filling online orders with any unsold white copies on a first-come, first-served basis. So pre-order away.
For those of you who are planning on attending either show, the 25 white-vinyl Dayton editions of “Carbonics” will have silkscreened covers and come in hand-sewn, embroidered bags. The 25 white-vinyl Detroit editions of “Carbonics” will have alternate artwork covers and come in hand-sewn, embroidered bags. Prelude To A Miss Volume 1 will be available at both shows, as well as standard gold vinyl editions of “Carbonics” and specially-priced Five Three Dial Tone Starter Kits.
whatever happened to number two?
Monday, March 29th, 2010We have a release date for the elusive FTDT-002, Human Reunion’s Carbonics 7″. Actually, we have two:
May 28 at Blind Bob’s in Dayton, Ohio
May 29 at the Majestic Café in Detroit, MI
The Detroit show will also feature Silverghost, Lettercamp and the return of Moondagger-era Deastro (Randy, Mark, Jeff and Brian).
Plan your lives accordingly.

Cover Art Leaks?
Monday, November 9th, 2009This image popped up on the webbynets recently and people all around my kitchen were speculating that it was the cover art to a forthcoming Five Three Dial Tone Records release. Come on, people. This has cease-and-desist written all over it and honestly, anyone who would consider using it clearly has no regard for copyright law. So I’m here to tell you, officially, that this has cease-and-desist written all over it.
Pitchforked
Tuesday, April 21st, 2009We were lucky enough to have our very first release mentioned on Pitchfork. Twice! Check out their mention of Deastro’s Spritle 7″ here and their review of the track here. Combined with an at-capacity record release show, we couldn’t ask for a better start for our brand new record label.
We are currently working hard to bring you FTDT-002. It’s going to be another 7″, but this time with four tracks! We know you’re hungry for information, but we can’t tell you anything more at this point. Five Three Dial Tone Records encourages you to buy more copies of FTDT-001 in the meantime.
Remember kids — the more copies you buy, the less copies other people can have. And when people don’t have as many things as you do, it’s sometimes fun to rub it in their face!
